A really smart person taught me that gender is just a social construct. It creates boxes and binaries that are self-imposed.
Take a minute with that if you need to.
So far every time I’ve run an input into the AI headshot generator, I’ve selected ‘woman’ as the tool only gives a binary choice. I was speaking with some other women executives about my AI generated headshots and we were all laughing at how many of them have an overtly sexual vibe. Even the poses are demure, alluring and traditionally considered ‘feminine’.
I made an offhand comment that I bet the men who used this tool had very different poses generated. This lead me to my next trial. I tried again with the same photos as used in previous attempts, but this time I selected ‘male’ instead of ‘female’ when prompted. Then let the AI tool generate the images.
My hypothesis’s that by re-running the same photo inputs I used for the previous generated headshots, I could get more power shots and less glamor shots. I was both correct and surprised by the results.
Instead of creating specific archetypes/ personalities for this set, I’m going to group these more based on poses and what they emote.
The first category I would put these into would be Power pose/C-suite Executive Headshots. Small if any smile, mostly no teeth, formal and serious.
